White House prospect...
Stephen Krasner is an intelligent, decisive thinker who does nothing by accident and leaves nothing to chance. He’s also a well-rounded businessman and family man, solidly educated and cultured with a warm, vibrant personality and a genuine love of people and human spirit. It doesn’t end there.
He boasts and impressive list of credentials, all of which paint a picture of sincerity and depth of human character, and none of which come as any surprise to those who know him.The groundwork for his career path was laid early on. He caught the political bug at a young age, opting out of traditional after school activities in favor of listening in on public senate floor debates.
He’s been earning his stripes in the area of public service since college where he served as student body vice-president, followed by an impressive list of elected positions throughout his academic pursuits.Displaying early signs of humanitarian passion, Stephen embarked upon a life-altering journey when he participated in the March of the Living, which brought him up close to the markings and scars left behind by the Holocaust as he walked side by side with peers and survivors touring the death camps in Poland.
He’s a graduate of the University of Hartford with a B.A in Political Science andHistory.Immediately following his studies, Stephen opted to put paid employment on hold in favor of acquiring much more enriching and self-affirming life experiences. He served as a volunteer with the United States Peace Corps, continuing a long tradition of family service established by his grandfather, an Army veteran ofWorld War II, and continued by his father, who served in the Navy during theVietnam War.
In this role, he was able to see first hand how his unique blend of people skills and project-planning expertise would benefit local development over a long term.Stationed in Luz de America, Ecuador, his achievements include partnering with an international nonprofit organization to secure new computers for the town’s schools, leading community-based banking and small business initiatives, developing and conducting interdisciplinary classes for local youth, and working closely with an NGO to provide health-related services and products. True to his natural aptitude for seeing his commitments through, he returns periodically to see to the continued advancement of his efforts. As well, he stays in constant communication with those living in his former Ecuadorian home.
Stephen does what he does because that’s what makes him who he is. He knows inherently that his most rewarding achievements will come from putting his forward-thinking mind and diverse skill set to use in the interest of serving people in his community and around the globe. For a guy who started out admittedly shy, he stands up to the bullies of his time, and thrives in the face of his opponents and naysayers. After settling in for only a short time, Stephen made waves in his new hometown of Newburgh, NY and caught the eye of his community when he ran for Town Supervisor in 2009 and shook the poles with a staggering 42% of the vote – an unexpected feat by a virtual unknown.
His popularity has continued to grow along with his agenda and his commitment. He recognizes that it’s the people who make the community, and he appeals to all who wish to have a voice. Public employees desperately seeking an outlet to voice their concerns have reached out to Stephen, and come to call him not only a great leader, but also a trusted friend. He can spot a phoney a mile away and he doesn’t back down from conflict, armed with his sharp mind and the courage of his convictions, and ever confident that he will continually collect allies along the road as long as he remains true to his beliefs. A class act, he conducts himself with the same unwavering grace and dignity whether in a private setting or public forum… not because he was taught to do so, but because it’s who he is. He believes that truth, decency, and fairness will win out every time, and he sees his 2009 loss not as a defeat but as a stepping-stone to a promising future.
He is devoted to serving the people of the town he calls home, regardless of electoral outcomes. Promises made during his campaign have not fallen by the wayside. Stephen has systematically and successfully advanced every item on his to-do list, and he is committed to seeing it through beyond the next term. An accomplished project manager, he has spearheaded countless initiatives for reform since 2009, all of which can be studied through his volunteer association's website, www.thetownadvocate.com.
One such example is his timely delivery on the promise of transparency at TownHall. As a result of Stephen’s initiative, the common resident can now log onto his website and view videos of town discussions, thereby staying abreast of the status of various town debates.
He is also an active figure on the pressing issues surrounding public employees, working vehemently to restore their confidence, safety, and morale. In addition, he continues to challenge Town Hall on the issues of accountability and fiscal irresponsibility, where he has exposed specific weaknesses and put forth a detailed plan for improvements that will help the town thrive.Further qualifying him to effectively meet these challenges is the continued advancement of his impressive credentials.
Stephen acquired a Master’s degree in Non-profit Management from Milano, the New School for Management andUrban Policy. All of these things, he continues to manage on a day-to-day basis, all the while holding a high-pressure position as a Senior Litigation Paralegal, as well as being a devoted husband and father.Imagine what he could do if he worked for the community full-time.He is accessible, reliable, and real… and he’s in it for the long haul.
